Fuerteventura Holiday Deals 2017/2018

CANCO Fuerteventura - Excursions and Sights

Located just 100 kilometers from the coast of North Africa are the Canary Islands. While all the islands are awesome in their own way, the second largest, Fuerteventura, is the one where most people head! If you are planning a trip for the 2017/2018 season, this is one place you will almost certainly want to think about.

When should you head to the island?

The high season for the island is July and August. This is when schools are out, so if you have your children in tow, head here then. Things do get a little bit busier than usual, so it is important to book in advance, but you should be able to snap up some good deals. However, if you do not have your children with you, you are going to love Fuerteventura even more. Why? Because it boasts almost year-round hot weather. This is due to its unique location. You can head there during the slightly colder months (January and the like) and probably still find an opportunity to relax on the beach. There are very few places in the world where you can do that!

Many people head here during the ‘off season’ as the prices are a touch lower than normal. However, it is worth noting that the island will not be as lively. Some of the pubs and clubs, many of which are run by English people, may be closed. However, you will almost certainly find something to do.

What is there to do on Fuerteventura?

Plenty! This is why many people book trips to Fuerteventura. Many people associate Fuerteventura with Spain, which politically it is. This means you will be able to enjoy Spanish culture on the island. However, it is not ‘pure’ Spanish culture. The proximity of the island to North America has meant that, over the centuries, the culture of the island has fused. There are things you will be able to enjoy on Fuerteventura that you probably would not be able to experience anywhere else. That is what makes this place so fantastic. We know that English people tend to be fans of Spain, so why not take it to the next level and book a trip here instead? It is the same experience, though with a few differences, and that is what makes it so fantastic!

Here are some of the main highlights of the island:

  • Montana de Tindaya: When you head to the island, you may be able to see this gorgeous mountain in the distance. It has been a very important location for island residents since the island was settled. You can head here for gorgeous views of the island. We know that many people who head to the Canaries do so because they want to relax and get away from it all. We honestly can’t think of a better place to do this than Montana de Tindaya.
  • Baku Water Park: If you have children in tow, or just want a healthy dose of safe fun, the Baku Water Park is where you want to head. As we said, the weather on this island can get very warm, particularly during the summer months, so why not cool off on some of the best water rides and slides in the region? The admission fees are low, too!
  • Lobos Island: This is a nature preserve and, once again, it will be one of the more relaxing trips you will take while on Fuerteventura. You will be able to observe various animals in their natural habitat. This is one of the places that makes the island so special. You really do not need a lot of money by your side if you want to have fun here. This is great!

Other things you can do

If you love to relax, you are in for a treat. There are 152 beaches on the island, most of them (two-thirds) filled with gorgeous white sand. This means that you will be able to kick back and gaze at that beautiful ocean. The other beaches are made up of volcanic rock – not really something you can relax on, but they offer a great view!

Many people will make a booking in 2017/2018 just to relax on the island. Don’t worry, though; you don’t have to relax all the time! If you are on the beach, you can engage in all sorts of watersports. If you are a fan of sports involving the wind, you will be pleased to learn that Fuerteventura can get very windy as you head away from the coast. This means that you will be able to kick up that adrenaline a notch!

Want to relax with some golf? There are plenty of golf courses to explore. If you want to see wildlife, there are boat tours which will take you to see whales, dolphins, and turtles.

Of course, there is also older architecture to explore. Fuerteventura – and, in fact, every one of the Canary Islands – is unique in this regard, so if you have visited one of them before, don’t pass up the opportunity to visit here. The island will be unique enough for you!

Finally, if you want to party, there are plenty of places you can head, including pubs, clubs, and fabulous restaurants.

Remember, Fuerteventura is a place which gets booked up quickly, so if you want to head to one of the best hotels on the island, you best start booking as soon as possible. You also have the benefit of a cheap booking, which is fantastic, as you will then be able to spend more cash on the island!
